“Nor should you be called “Leader,’ because your one and only leader is the Messiah. The greatest one among you must be your servant. Whoever makes himself great will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be made great.”
(Matthew 23:10-12, Good News Translation)
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Servant leadership is a matter of personal integrity and living for the sake of others.
Therefore I am committed to bringing service, inspiration, and innovation based upon biblical values, spiritual maturity and a commitment to building up others.
My actions will build value-based relationships and a commitment to help and serve where ever and whenever necessary.
– I have an insatiable appetite to improve and grow personally and professionally.
– I will use my talents to mentor and coach others in an effort to create other leaders.
VALUES
Respect for People –
Treat people, as I would like to be treated – with respect and dignity.
• To optimize relationships:
• Develop person-to-person relationships
• Display genuine interest in people
• Show appreciation – the power of a sincere thank you
Honesty & Integrity –
Simply stated – always, always, always do the right thing!
I will strive to live my life by the highest standards of honesty and integrity. Throughout my professional life I will be tempted to do the expedient, to shade the truth, or violate ethical principles. However, I will stand firm, won’t waiver and will be able to look back at my accomplishments with pride and satisfaction, for I will have succeeded by doing things the right way without violating the trust others have given to me. More than anything else, my legacy will be that I inspired others to live their lives in a similar fashion and that the mistakes of the past does not determine the future.
Demonstrate integrity by:
• Doing what I say I will do
• Keeping confidential information, confidential
• Accepting responsibility for mistakes
• Never lying or being deceitful
Spiritual –
I will use the Bible as my manual for life. I will not interpret for my benefit, but will discern the Truth of the Holy Word and allow it to direct my steps. I will make my relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ number one in my life; my family, number two; and service to others number three.
As a result, I will have daily time in prayer and reflection upon the Word; I will then devote time to my wife and children to have fun and to help them to grow in grace and service to one another and to the mission fields God has called us too. I will use my remaining time to be the servant leader God has called me to be in every other area of my life.
Fun –
Life is not a dress rehearsal. I will live every day with passion, enjoyment and enthusiasm. I will be a positive influence that sets an example for others.
